Street Arrows

These arrows are signs for car-drivers. Each lane has an arrow and every car has a direction in which to travel.

  1. What are streets made out of?
  2. Have you ever seen a street-painting crew?
  3. Why do you think they use white paint on a black road?

Neon Shoe Repair & Shine Sign

This sign is for a shoe repair shop. These places aren't very common because, these days, most of our shoes are disposable. But when your favorite shoes get messed-up this is where you can go to find out if they can be fixed.
  1.  Do you see a shoe? What color is the shoe?
  2. Now point to the word "shoe." Nice work, there it is :)
What letters make the word "shoe?"
  3. What else do you see in the photograph?
  4. I spy with my little eye, an ampersand. Can you point to the ampersand?
Very good, there it is! Do you know what it means? Great, it means "and."
Let's practice drawing ampersands today! And I really want to draw that shoe, too.
