Crosswalk Sign at 214th Street

Here is a crosswalk sign. Together, with the white markings painted on the street, it shows us a "safer" place to cross the street. However, even in a crosswalk, we have to be very careful and ALWAYS look BOTH WAYS for cars AND bicycles! Be alert and get home unhurt.

  1. Point at the crosswalk sign and describe it, please.
  2. Which way do you look when crossing the street?
  3. When crossing the street we always look for cars AND...?

  2. How many cars do you see in the street?
  3. How many people do you see on the sidewalk?

Mogwai Awning

This is the Mogwai Awning and while it is awesome (you might have to ask your parents or grandparents why it's awesome) –It's also phony! This sign is in a backlot in Hollywood, California. Backlots are where they make a lot of movies. Just to the right of this picture is where Randall Peltzer walked down the stairs and into film legend.
  1. I spy with my little eye, numbers.
Can you point to them and tell me what they are?
  2. Do you see the word "shop,"
can you say the letters that make the word?
  3. Do you know what "curio" means?
It is short for "curiosity" or "curious."
So this would be a store that has mysterious items that you would be curious about.
  4. What sorts of things would you like to find in a Curio Shop?
  5. What are you curious about?

Bike Lane

This is a sign that's painted on the street. It marks where the Bike Lane is so that cyclists know where to go, car-drivers will know where they'll be, and everybody stays safe.
  1. What does this look like to you?
  2. How many other signs do you see in the photograph, what color are they?
  3. How many vehicles do you see in the picture?
Bicycles are fun to draw and this is a very cool way to draw one. I know that you can imagine some wonderful ways to draw a bicycle too so let's get our art supplies ready and start drawing some!
